This may be the toughest season Yeovil Town’s Sarah Wiltshire has faced yet in the FA Women’s Super League, but Wiltshire is adamant the Glovers boast a better squad than their nearest rivals.

Yeovil have begun their season with a clean sweep of results, as their 1-1 draw with Millwall Lionesses on Sunday leaves them with a win, a draw and a loss from their opening three games.

It was Wiltshire who grabbed the crucial equaliser at home to the Lionesses, her third goal already this season having returned from Manchester City midway through the last campaign.

And despite being held to a draw by Millwall, with Oxford United the second side to visit Huish Park in four days, the 24-year-old is expecting more success.“I think this year will be the toughest it has ever been in WSL 2, you look at the fixture list and you realise every game is going to be hard,” she said.

“The people we have brought in have been brilliant though, our Welsh internationals and Atlanta Primus who is doing really well in the England Under-19s set-up. So I believe we have one of the best squads in the league.“It’s great to have two back-to-back home games at Huish Park, which has a great surface and the fans really get on your side.

“So hopefully we can make the most of our second game and get the three points.”

Meanwhile, Oxford’s Lauren Haynes insists that despite a difficult start to their own WSL 2 campaign, her side are not yet feeling the heat at the foot of the table.

Three defeats from three so far, where they shipped five goals in both their matches against Millwall and Durham, have left Haynes’ side staring up at the teams above them – but the 20-year-old midfielder believes this is the week Oxford turn things around.

She said: “Yeovil will be a tight one, they’ve beaten Watford so will be looking to kick on from that.

“With the start we had we just have to treat every game as it comes and not let other people’s results, or our previous results, affect how we play on the day.

“We’re confident that with a couple of changes to the way we started the season, the results will come.

“We’ve conceded a few too many goals but we’re working on that as a team and hopefully we can be stronger at the back this week.”
