Yeovil Town Ladies v Millwall Lionesses (Sunday 19th July at Huish Park)

Helen Bleazard is hoping to put on a show for a bumper crowd when Yeovil Town return to FA WSL 2 action on Sunday.

Yeovil welcome Millwall Lionesses to Huish Park – switching from their regular home at Sherborne Town with a record attendance for the season expected – in search of a fast start to the second half of the campaign.

They went into the World Cup break six points off the pace-setters Reading and Doncaster Rovers Belles in Women’s Super League 2 with BT Sport.

However, they each picked up three points last weekend and with the Glovers out of action, the gap has grown to nine.

And Bleazard is hoping to address that against Millwall, who lie seventh in the WSL 2 table with just two league wins to their name.

“We’re ready for Millwall and we’re playing at the men’s ground as well, so it’s an extra incentive for us,” she said.

“We’re going to get more fans than usual and I know quite a lot of the youth teams will be watching as well, which is great because it’s important to promote the sport both inside and outside the club.

“We’re hoping for a record crowd for the club but also for a WSL 2 record, so it should be a great day.

“It’s always going to be a tough game against Millwall – they’re a bit lower down the table than us but that’s because they had a lot of draws in the first half of the season.

“So they’re tough to beat and we know that we’re going to have to fight to get a result this weekend.”

Millwall returned from the World Cup break last weekend with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa and travel to Yeovil looking to bounce back.

They are five points behind their hosts and just four places off bottom spot but Naomi Cole, who scored a penalty when these sides drew 2-2 in May, believes Millwall can turn their season around.

“We’ve got our own targets within the club for the rest of the season and we just want to keep progressing,” said Cole.

“You’ve got to go into every game feeling like you are going to win or at least put in a good performance.

“We want to get that unbeaten run going again, turn draws into wins and see how far up the table we can get.

“We know the top two is a big ask but we are capable of doing that. I think if we finish higher than we did last year though, that’s great because we’ve improved.”
