Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Tuesday night when the Glovers travel to Wycombe Wanderers.

This past Saturday gave the Yeovil fans a few mixed feelings as a negative result against local rivals was bettered by the news from other games.

Dagenham and York both lost meaning that Yeovil Town are safe and secure in League Two for next season.

The result completed an incredible turnaround for Darren Way’s men who looked destined for a third successive relegation.

Those fears are now in the past and this Tuesday’s fixture represents the start of the planning for next season.

Darren Way has said he will begin discussing the future of his players once survival was assured, but with just 72 hours between games, the focus may not have switched to the long term.

So, it’s full steam ahead for this Tuesday and the gaffer is going to have the same squad of players to choose from.

Once again, one of the six Glovers loanees will miss out, Harry Cornick was the unlucky one on Saturday and Darren Way will be making his mind up whether or not to change things around.

Leroy Lita’s consolation goal for the Glovers was his first in Yeovil colours, the strike will put his name back in line for a start after coming off the bench on his last few appearances.

Opponents, Wycombe are going into the game with hopes of extending their season beyond the next four fixtures.

Currently, the Chairboys are sitting in 8th place just two points below Wimbledon who lie in the final play-off place.

The Dons not only have that two point cushion but also a game in hand on Wycombe so a midweek win for the Blues will keep the pressure on those above them.

This past weekend, Wycombe let a 1-0 lead slip at home to Barnet to only take a point.

Paul Hayes opener was cancelled out by a late away goal and Gareth Ainsworth was left cursing a frustrating game.

Wycombe’s form prior to Saturday was a little bit patchy, draws followed defeats and they struggled to put a string of big results together.

Their team news surrounds midfielder Matt Bloomfield who missed out at the weekend following a broken arm he sustained against York.

The Glovers will know a lot about one of the opposition front men, as Gozie Ugwu has had two different spells at Huish Park.

The feeling of relief at League Two survival was palpable in the away end at Bristol Rovers and it will be all systems go again this Tuesday and Darren Way starts a different challenge as he tries to prevent complacency and keep the Glovers train going.

Last time we met

When the two sides met earlier this season, back on a cold Tuesday night in November, Wycombe came away with all three points.

A single Luke O’Nien goal after 70 minutes was all the separated the sides. The defeat sent Yeovil bottom of the league.

The two teams haven’t crossed paths since the season that saw Yeovil promoted out of League One, but it wasn’t a match for three points, rather it was the Johnstones Paint Trophy which pitted the two teams together.

In the southern area quarter final, Yeovil overcame Wanderers by a score of 2-0, goals from Ed Upson and Sam Foley sending the Glovers through to face Leyton Orient in the semi-finals.

Prior to that, the season before, the two teams met and on both occasions Yeovil came out on top.

It was a 1-0 win at Huish Park and a 3-2 win for the Glovers away from home.

In fact, Yeovil’s record in this fixture is pretty good, Wycombe haven’t won since the early 1990’s and Yeovil have won five out of the six league meetings as well as that aforementioned JPT game.

They couldn’t even record a win in a 2010 friendly game between the two sides.

Tickets

Tickets for the game are available from Huish Park today (Monday) but also available on the day.

Adult tickets purchased on the evening will set you back £22, with age bands for reduced entrance fees.
