11th November 2016
The Glovers come into the fixture on the back of a six-game unbeaten run, which has seen Darren Way’s side collect 10 points from five games in League Two whilst progressing to the knockout stages of the Checkatrade Trophy and earning an Emirates FA Cup First Round replay.
Now up to 11th in the table, Town are on the cusp of equalling a club record – since entering the Football League – of five league games without conceding a goal – Yeovil equalled the record last season under Way with a run of games in February and March, which went a long way to securing their League Two status.
Having gone six hours without conceding a goal in the league, Town will be buoyed by the fact they haven’t conceded in their last three trips to the Lamex Stadium.
The hosts come into Saturday’s fixture in 17th place having won their last League Two outing 2-1 at Mansfield Town.
Since then, Boro have lost to Port Vale in the Emirates FA Cup First Round before recording a resounding 4-0 victory against Southend United in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday.
Matthew Godden will prove to be their main threat with four league goals to his name, whilst Ben Kennedy and Tyler Walker have both netted three times this season in all competitions.
Head-to-head
With seven previous meetings, there’s nothing to divide the two sides who both have two wins to their name.
However, Town are unbeaten in their last four matches against Stevenage, drawing 0-0 at the Lamex last season and 2-2 at Huish Park in the reverse fixture thanks to strikes from Harry Cornick and Shaun Jeffers.
The Glovers also recorded a 1-0 win at home in the Emirates FA Cup Second Round courtesy of Ben Tozer’s late strike in early December.
The most notable visit to Stevenage for the Glovers came in April 2013, when goals from James Hayter and Sam Foley secured a 2-0 win which in turn guaranteed Yeovil a spot in the League One play-offs, which they eventually went on to win.
Referee
Gavin Ward (Surrey) will take charge of his 17th game of the season on Saturday, fresh from issuing two yellow cards in Wycombe’s FA Cup victory at Portsmouth last weekend.
Mr. Ward has awarded 60 yellow and three red cards so far this season and will take charge of his first Glovers match for this campaign.
The Surrey-based official last took charge of a Town match in March, overseeing Town’s 1-0 win against Notts County at Huish Park. Mr. Ward was also the man in the middle on the opening day of last season, as Yeovil lost 3-2 at Exeter City with a penalty awarded to each side.
On Saturday, Mr. Ward will be assisted by Neil Radford (Worcestershire) and Graham Kane (East Sussex) with Gavin Muge (Bedfordshire) acting as fourth official.
