7th April 2017

Town have six games left of the 2016/17 Sky Bet League Two campaign to add to their three wins in all competitions in 2017.

The Glovers suffered defeat in their last encounter against Carlisle United, but head to the south coast to face Portsmouth on a four-match unbeaten run on the road.

Darren Way could welcome back Otis Khan from an ankle injury which has sidelined him since January.

The former Sheffield United man scored five league goals in the first half of the season and will hope to grab a few more before the campaign is out.

Another lengthy absentee could also return to the fray. Nathan Smith has missed almost two months with a medial knee ligament problem but Way is hopeful he’ll play some part against promotion-chasers Portsmouth.

Paul Cook’s side have won six of their last 10 games to put themselves in a good position for automatic promotion.

Pompey are currently in the top three, six points clear of fourth-placed Stevenage and look set to return to League One for the first time in four years.

They are a side that score goals from all over the pitch but Kal Naismith’s recent form has helped a considerable amount in their bid for promotion.

Head-to-head

Town are unbeaten in three games against Pompey, two of which have come this season.

The Glovers edged out the Hampshire outfit in a seven-goal thriller in Somerset in the Checkatrade Trophy, before the two sides played out a goalless draw in front of the biggest crowd at Huish Park in 2016.

The score was also 0-0 on Yeovil’s last visit to Portsmouth, with the meeting at Fratton Park before that proving more successful.

Dominic Blizzard and Byron Webster were on target as Town recorded a 2-1 victory back in 2012.

Referee

Graham Horwood will take charge of his 27th game of the season when Town travel to Portsmouth.

Mr Horwood has awarded 105 yellow cards so far this campaign and has issued six reds.

The Bedfordshire-born officiated Town’s 3-0 defeat to Blackpool back in September.

Mr Horwood will be assisted by Robert Dabbs (Dorset) and Gary Maskell (London) with Stuart Butler (Kent) acting as fourth official.
