Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Boxing Day with an away trip to Devon’s Plymouth Argyle.

The game kicks off at 3pm and tickets are available on the day for fans making the trip down.

Argyle are sat pretty at the very top of League Two, their accumulation of 43 points is a full 30 points more than Yeovil but the confidence around Huish Park has lead the Glovers to not fear anyone in this League.

Yeovil are coming off the back of two draws thanks to Francois Zoko’s goals in games against both Barnet and Leyton Orient.

Three goals in two games for the front man, whose form could be the key to getting out of trouble over the festive period.

The team news from Yeovil is mostly positive – Darren Way has reported that Marc Laird took part in training this week and he could be involved in the match day squad soon.

Wes Fodgen and Harry Cornick both missed the Orient game but neither have been ruled out of making a return on Boxing Day.

Elsewhere – Connor Roberts has extended his deal on loan from Swansea for another month and Darren Way has revealed he’s added former Yeovil player Chris Giles to his backroom staff on a temporary basis to add some more knowledge and knowhow to the club.

As for the Glovers’ opponents, they are putting a run of four unbeaten games behind them after beating Hartlepool.

That win away at ‘Pools came thanks to a last minute Kelvin Mellor winner that ended a sequence that has seen them lose to Exeter and Cambridge as well as drawing at Orient and bottom side Dagenham and Redbridge.

Interestingly, the last match at Home Park – the loss to Cambridge – saw manager Derek Adams blame algae on the surface for the loss claiming that the extra slippery turf was causing players to lose their feet more, including a last gasp slip which otherwise would have prevented the winner.

Former Glovers striker Reuben Reid has been missing for the Pilgrims for some weeks now and would have been keen to score against his old employers after starting the season with half a dozen quick goals.

Never the less, the likes of Ryan Dickson – the Glovers captain and Paul Wotton, Argyle coach will be looking to get one over their old bosses.

It’s the start of a busy week or two for Yeovil with Oxford at home on the 28th, so get behind the lads and build some momentum that will hopefully see the Glovers rise out of trouble as the season rolls on.

Hopefully you’ve all asked Santa for three points this Christmas.

Last time we met

Despite the relative locality of the two sides and both team’s extended spells in the Football League, since the turn of the millennium, the two have only crossed paths in one season, the 2010/11 campaign.

The two league games came within one month and one day of each other in early 2011 and in 180 minutes, just one goal was scored – an Andy Williams deflected effort an hour into the second fixture at Huish Park.

However, since then, the sides have played three times in pre-season friendlies with Yeovil coming out on top in each occasion.

In 2012, Reuben Reid – now of the Pilgrims scored a hat trick in a pre-season thrashing, a year later and it was the lethal combo of Hayter and Madden that did the trick before Liam Davis and Sam Hoskins scored late goals to secure a win in the summer of 2014.

Tickets

Tickets for this fixture are available on match day but are priced at £2 more expensive than those purchased pre-match.

Note, that tickets will go off sale from Huish Park on Weds 23rd on December – match day prices will be the only option.

Adults are £22 on the day with concessions available from £17.
