Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League One action this coming Saturday as the hopes and dreams of the FA Cup take a back burner in the search for three precious league points
.

At this time of year, there is nothing better than spending time with family and that is no more prevalent than in the Johnson household.

So, with busy football schedules potentially keeping Gary from spending more time with his son, Lee, it was nice of the Football League fixtures computer to put this match up together at this time.

Father and son will collide as opposition managers at Boundary Park this coming Saturday.

The Glovers will be looking to build some momentum going into Tuesday’s FA Cup replay while the Latics will be trying to cement their place as a top team in this division, the Lancashire side currently sit just inside the play off positions and will want to stay there.

Last time out, Oldham crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of League One Doncaster Rovers, losing 1-0.

However, during November the Latics lost just once, a 1-0 defeat to high flying Bristol City right back on the first of the month.

Impressive draws against Crawley and Sheffield United have been backed up wins over Rochdale (league) and Leyton Orient (FA Cup).

They did taste defeat in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, but Preston were forced to take the game to penalty kicks to get through to the regional semi finals.

As for the Yeovil form, it doesn’t make for the best reading. A less than encouraging performance against Accrington took the FA Cup second round tie to a replay and the league results have been hit and miss.

Losing 2-0 at home to Preston was preceded by a more than impressive victory away at Notts County.

It’s been a steady run of following wins with losses and vice versa; beating Crawley in early November was followed by a loss at home to Fleetwood.

In terms of team news, Gary Johnson will be without Ryan Inniss who serves the second of his three match ban following a red card against PNE.

The FA Cup replay vs Accrington will be his third and final match and will be available for selection after that.

The first tie saw Joel Grant, Kieffer Moore and Liam Davis all missing through injury while Sam Hoskins sat out due to being cup tied.

Hoskins is back in contention, however the injuries will continue to be monitored – rushing players back before a busy period won’t be top of the gaffer’s to-do list.

For Oldham, they have two relatively new acquisitions in Paddy Kenny and Tom Youngs, both on short term deals from Bolton Wanderers.

Of course, Yeovil have their own Bolton loanee, Tom Eaves was forced to miss the FA Cup tie with a slight injury, but it’s hoped he’ll be back to take on Kenny and Youngs in League action.

Oldham and Yeovil share a rich recent history, but we’ve only seen Johnson v Johnson once before, back in the 2012/13 season.

With Lee’s Oldham struggling to get out of the drop zone and Gary’s Yeovil pushing for promotion, it was Johnson Jnr’s side that came out on top.

Matt Smith scored the only goal of the game that day.

Earlier that season, Gavin Williams’ wonder goal was the catalyst for an emphatic 4-1 Yeovil win over an Oldham side led by Paul Dickov.

In fact, that single victory was the first Oldham win in this fixture in the last ten meetings.

Andy Williams, Ed Upson, Andy Welsh and Paul Warne have all been scorers of vital goals in Yeovil wins.

You have to go right back to 2008 before you’ll find another Oldham win in this head to head. A 3-0 win at Huish Park included a Lee Peltier own goal.

This coming Saturday, Yeovil will be hoping for the form book to continue in their favour, three points could see Yeovil leap outside of the bottom four and build momentum going into a big week of action.

Tickets for the Oldham fixture are available right now from the Yeovil Town ticket office and on the day.

Please note, the ticket office is working its way through large amounts of calls and orders at the moment so we ask for your patience when trying to get through.

Any supporters calling to purchase home tickets (excluding the Accrington replay) or Half Season tickets can do so by clicking HERE and using the online ticket purchase facility.

Please see Wednesday’s news item HERE for details on the ticket office opening times over the coming days.

If you’re not making the journey to Lancashire, you can listen to the fixture on Glovers Player and the club’s official YouTube channel will carry highlights from Sunday.

Yeovil are embarking on a huge week of the season and it starts this Saturday with a vital three points on the line as well as Johnson bragging rights over the family Christmas dinner.
