31st January 2014

Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet Championship action this Sunday and it’s yet another away day in the midlands and a trip to Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.

It’s the fourth away trip in a row for the Glovers, following visits to Birmingham, Derby and Southampton.

The game is taking place 24 hours after the rest of the Championship sides due to Forest’s involvement in the live Thursday night game against Watford.

It was quite a game for the viewers too, Watford found themselves with a 2-0 lead only to see it taken away as the hosts scored four goals in the second half to claim all the points.

I guess you could say that the events of that game mirrored the Glovers’ last outing in Derby.

Another 2-0 away lead, this time in the Glovers favour, was eroded away by an impressive Rams side who ended up prevailing 3-2.

At the time of writing, there was still time to go in the January transfer window and both clubs haven’t ruled anything out with regards to final moves.

Forest have already strengthened their defensive options, signing Southampton full back Danny Fox on loan. French defender Kevin Gomis has also signed on loan from Nice. The third potential debutant that Yeovil could be up against is Algerian attacker Rafik Djebbour.

All in all, it leaves Forest with options if they want to make some changes ahead of the fixture.

Former Glover Chris Cohen won’t be able to face his old employers as suffered a serious knee injury either in the season that will see him miss the rest of the season.

Henri Lansbury will also be missing as he serves the final game of a three match ban.

Yeovil manager, Gary Johnson will have to make at least one change to his starting eleven as Ishamel Miller won’t be available to face his parent club. That could mean a return to action for James Hayter who missed out at Derby.

When the two sides met earlier in the season in October, Yeovil Town won a thrilling encounter at Huish Park 3-1.

A Brace of goals from Ed Upson preceded Byron Webster’s third to secure the points before half time.

The result took Yeovil off the bottom of the table and put Forest’s position in play-off spots at risk.

The situation is very much similar this time around, Forest lie in fifth and Yeovil are currently propping up the pack in 24th.

It would be wrong of any article about Yeovil and Nottingham Forest to avoid the previous fixtures between the sides and here at YTFC.net we won’t let you down.

The sides met famously a number of times in League One; the Reds will want to remember the 3-2 win in 2008 which secured their promotion back to the Championship.

However, the green and white faithful will probably have the events of the 18th May 2007 etched onto their memories for ever.

The echoes of “2-0 down, 5-4 up, Arron Davies wrapped it up…” rattled around the City Ground that night (and numerous more since) as Yeovil booked their first trip to Wembley Stadium for the 2007 League One Play-Off Final.

The travelling faithful will be hoping for more jubilant scenes on the side of the River Trent on Sunday and if you’re making the trip tickets are available for the away end.

If you’re unable to face the M5 again, then rest assured that Glovers Player will have full commentary and all the post-match interviews and highlights will be available on YouTube shortly after.

The Glovers will be back at home for six out of seven games after this Sunday’s fixture and Gary Johnson has called for the atmosphere to match that of the end of last season.

To book your place for the big run of games you can call the ticket office on 01935 847888 or by using the online purchasing system on ytfc.net
