Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Saturday when the Glovers travel to Northampton Town.

‘Cobblers’, I hear you cry… no, it’s true, it really is Northampton away this weekend.

Yeovil are sitting rock bottom of the Football League following defeat to Wycombe last Tuesday.

The 1-0 loss broke a streak of four games undefeated. Positive results from Dagenham and Redbridge as well as Newport helped pile on the misery for Sturrock’s side and sent them to the very bottom spot with York City just above them.

There is a four point gap between 22nd and 21st so a win this weekend could not only see Yeovil jump above the two sides directly above them but also drag a number of sides back into the fray.

Manager, Paul Sturrock, admitted some errors with team selection in midweek and so there could be changes for the third game in a week.

There has been some positive news in the transfer market this week, Coventry’s George Thomas extended his stay until early January and Tottenham Hotspur defender Christian Maghoma has signed for a month long stay, too.

Maghoma joins an illustrious list of Spurs loanees at Huish Park following the likes of Andros Townsend, Ryan Mason and Steven Caulker.

In addition to that, the injury news is starting to look a little brighter with Sturrock revealing that Jack Compton may well only miss this upcoming game before being available soon after, much the same applies to Marc Laird.

Simon Gillett posted a picture on social media of him increasing his rehab at St Georges centre alongside Exeter (and former Glovers) winger, Arron Davies.

Northampton Town are having a rollercoaster season, the threat of winding up petitions, administration, lack of pay and plenty of other off-the-field problems could have been enough to distract their players, but quite the opposite has occurred.

Manager Chris Wilder has guided his side to third in the table and sit inside the automatic promotion spots.

Their form is as good as any side’s right now winning six of their last seven including a win over their former tenants, Coventry City in the FA Cup.

On Tuesday they completed a pair of 2-1 away wins beating Crawley just three days after going to Notts County and getting the same result.

Tuesday’s victory was all the more impressive considering they played the final half an hour with just ten men after former Yeovil defender Brendan Moloney was sent off.

Moloney would have been one of three former Glovers to play against their former employers but that title will be held by just Sam Hoskins and one time loanee Lawdon D’Ath.

The positive results were backed up by the news that former Oxford Chairman Kelvin Thomas has completed a deal and the takeover will go through before the weekend.

Yeovil are hoping to head to Sixfields and be the party poopers as Northampton start their new era under new leadership.

You can be there to cheer on the side as the Glovers look to turn a corner in the season, see below for all the ticket information.

Last time we met

The two teams haven’t met each other since the 2008/09 season.

In late march of 2009, the sides met with Yeovil wallowing in the relegation zone of League One needing a result to get out of the bottom three.

In a scene not too dissimilar from this Saturday’s circumstances, Yeovil rallied and ground out a vital 1-0 win.

A single Jon Obika strike was enough to split the two teams.

In the first fixture between the two that season, the result went the other way and the Cobblers came out on top with a 3-0 win.

That victory is the only one for the Cobblers in the head-to-head since they did the double over Yeovil in the 2003/04 season.

There have been four draws and three Yeovil wins since then.

Tickets for the game are available in advance if purchased today (Friday) and on the day at the ground.

Adults are set at £20, but all prices including those for Over 65 (£18) and Under 18s (£8) will rise by £2 on match day.
