Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Saturday with a trip to Newport County.

The Glovers are looking to extend an unbeaten run that already stretches three matches across three different competitions.

The FA Cup victory against Maidstone was backed up with a penalty shoot-out win over League One Gillingham Town in the JPT and a draw at home to Stevenage in the League.

The upturn in form has coincided with a return to the side of many injured players.

Ben Tozer has returned to action, as has skipper Ryan Dickson.

All of these, alongside the likes of Wes Fogden and Alex Lacey getting progressively fitter and new signing Darren Ward slotting into the back four with ease things are looking up.

This week saw the news Connor Roberts has once again extended his stay at Yeovil and the Swansea loanee will be hoping to continue impressing at full back.

Saturday will also see the return of two international loanees who have been away with their countries.

Swansea midfielder Josh Sheehan and Coventry’s George Thomas are both returning from spells with their Under 21s.

That still only leaves four loanees in the squad and that does leave room for one more if Paul Sturrock can do the right deal there could be an extra name on the team sheet come 3pm on Saturday.

Jakub Sokolik will serve the final game of his three match suspension and will be one who misses out.

Newport are just two places above the Glovers in the table but there is four points between the sides, a win for Yeovil will take them within one positive result away from leapfrogging their opponents.

Unlike Yeovil, County were in action this past midweek, they hosted Brackley Town in an FA Cup replay and comfortably progressed through 4-1 on the night.

Goals came in regular intervals during the match and they were kicked off in the first minute by the man they call “The Shop”, Lenell John-Lewis.

Prior to this victory they have been on an incredible run of three straight 2-2 draws.

They have drawn a ‘desmond’, against Accrington and Northampton in the League as well as in the first tie of the FA Cup first round match against Brackley.

The County’s last league win came almost a month ago against Bristol Rovers with another 4-1 win.

The team news from County is that on loan Aston Villa defender Janoi Donacien has an ankle injury and will be monitored in the build up to the game.

There could be a first start for Andrew Hughes who has been missing for nearly a year with a knee injury.

Hughes has made the bench for the last two games but is yet to make his starting eleven bow.

Saturday’s fixture is an important meeting of two sides down at the wrong end of the table and both will see as a chance to get up and away from the dreaded drop zone.

Last time we met

This Saturday’s fixture is the first competitive meeting of the two sides since the late 1980’s, incredibly, despite both sides bouncing around non-league and the Football League the two sides have yet to cross paths.

There have been two friendly games between the sides, one in 2001 and more recently in the build up to the 2012/13 season.

In that game, Yeovil won away from home with goals from Gozie Ugwu, Reuben Reid and Nathan Ralph.
