Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Saturday with another long trip to Lancashire to face Morecambe.

The Globe Arena is the host venue for the Glovers this weekend and despite being still in the relegation zone, a pair of good results vs York and Carlisle have boosted confidence for a turn in league form.

Darren Way has masterminded his first victory in charge beating York City last time they played at Huish Park before a resilient performance earned his side a second crack at Carlisle United in the FA Cup.

In total, Yeovil are now unbeaten in three and focus has moved entirely to the League game despite the potential distraction of a Premier League side awaiting the winner of the FA Cup replay this Tuesday night (TICKETS FOR WHICH, CAN BE BOUGHT HERE).

This week’s build up has centred around the return to fitness of some key players – all Darren Way was prepared to say was that the likes of Harry Cornick, Marc Laird, Kevin Dawson and Simon Gillett are ‘progressing nicely’ with regards to their return.

Dawson had his first full training session this week and Gillett took part in a behind closed doors game against Swansea this week.

Drastic changes are not likely however with Way stating that he owes the current starting group a show of loyalty for their recent efforts.

As for Morecambe, they currently lie in 14th place in the league with 34 points so far this season.

Their form going into the game is a little bit hard to read. They have draws against Exeter and Notts County sandwiching a defeat against lowly York and a victory over high flying Wycombe.

In recent games, their attacking prowess has nearly all centred through one man, Shaun Miller – top scorer with goals already into double figures has scored in each of his last three fixtures with more strikes notched up prior to that.

One key aspect to consider in the build up to this game is that Yeovil have not played since last week while Morecambe had to negotiate a tricky midweek game against Exeter.

During that game, manager Jim Bentley confirmed injuries to a number of his players including Shaun Beeley, Aaron McGowan and long term absentee Peter Murphy.

With goalkeeper Tony Thompson also leaving after his short term deal came to an end their line up may look quite different to the one that Darren Way scouted this past Tuesday.

Bentley admitted to local media on his side that he could look to add reinforcements this week.

Darren Way and his team are going to have to put Carlisle, the FA Cup and potentially, Everton to the back of their minds as 3pm on Saturday signals the chance for three more league points, points which could take Yeovil as high as 20th in the League Two table.

Last time we met

Earlier this season, the two sides met at Huish Park and played out a six goal thriller in a game which had it all; drama, excitement and a red card.

Harry Cornick opened the scoring early on and Omar Sowunmi had put the Glovers 2-0 up within half an hour, the unfortunate thing being Shaun Jeffers saw red in between the strikes.

The second half was all Morecambe, however and four different scorers found the net after Aaron Wildig had got the ball rolling shortly after the hour mark.

The comeback was an emphatic one and secure the Shrimpers walked away with all three points.

Before this season, the last time Yeovil and Morecambe crossed paths was back in Conference.

The FA Trophy 4th Round match was the setting for the last meeting way back in 2003, that game ended in a 2-1 win for the Glovers.

Terry Skiverton and Kirk Jackson scoring the goals to send the home side through.

The side that day included Chris Weale and Darren Way as well as goal scorer Skiverton – all three now on the coaching staff at Huish Park.

The Glovers’ record vs Morecambe is actually very good, the previous ten meetings have seen six Yeovil wins and three draws.
