4th March 2016

Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Saturday when the Glovers travel to face Mansfield Town.

Darren Way’s side are one of the form sides in the division and they face off with a side who still harbour play–off ambitions.

Three points for the away side will bring League Two survival one step closer while the home side will be looking to bridge the gap between themselves in 10th place and 7th place side Leyton Orient who are just two points ahead.

Yeovil were in action this past Tuesday night when a single Ryan Dickson goal was the difference between the Glovers and Accrington Stanley.

Tuesday’s victory was the second in a row for the green and whites and extended their overall unbeaten run to four as well as cementing Huish Park as a fortress having not seen a Glovers defeat since mid November.

Huish Park may be a fortress for the squad, but it also seems to be quite the home for bacteria with most of the squad and staff coming down with illness over the last couple of weeks.

Liam Walsh has missed the last two games while the likes of Francois Zoko and Ryan Dickson have been struggling through games despite a bout of the lurgy.

Jakub Sokolik was forced off at half time of the midweek game due to the same virus, but the Gaffer is confident that everyone should be available for selection this week.

That includes a returning Kevin Dawson and Marc Laird who made their way back into the first team after injury.

The same cannot be said for Wes Fogden though who it has been confirmed is out for the rest of the season.

There is one other decision to be made by the management staff surrounding the loans of Tahvon Campbell and Shaun Jeffers.

Campbell’s deal is due to end soon and Jeffers’ spell at Woking is also due to expire this week.

Opponents Mansfield haven’t had the midweek game to get through, they were last in action in a 1-0 defeat to Newport last Saturday.

That result was off the back off a 3-2 win over Dagenham and prior to that a hammering at the hands of Plymouth.

One name that won’t appear on the Stags’ team sheet is that of Craig Westcarr, the forward has joined Southport on loan.

On the other hand they have added Port Vale midfielder Colin Daniel, the former Mansfield player has rejoined his old employers for the remainder of the season.

This week, Stag’s manager Adam Murray has likened the prospect of playing Yeovil more like playing a play-off candidate not a relegation battler.

A high compliment on the form of the Glovers, but come 3pm on Saturday it will be no time for niceties and Darren Way will be demanding his side put three points firmly at the front of the agenda,

Last time we met

Ealier this season, Yeovil and Mansfield met on a very cold Tuesday at Huish Park. The game was 0-0 heading into second half stoppage time but Reggie Lambe scored in the 100th minute to snatch victory.

The two sides last crossed paths in the league back in 2005, when both sides recorded a convincing win at home over the other.

At Huish Park, Yeovil came out on top in a seven-goal thriller. Five Glovers goals, from Arron Davies, Michael Rose, Phil Jevons and Darren Way (2) claimed all three points in a decisive and clinical performance.

However, in the reverse fixture at Field Mill, it was the Stags who did the damage with a 4-1 win of their own.

In the season before that, A Terry Skiverton goal secured a point at home while a single Kirk Jackson goal was enough to take the win in the away game.
