Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet Championship action this Saturday in what might prove to be one of the most important weekends of the season.

It’s the final game of the four in a row that Yeovil have had at Huish Park as they host old adversaries Doncaster Rovers in a crucial game at the bottom end of the table.

All in all, six out of the bottom nine face one another on Saturday with supporters and management having one eye on the Millwall v Barnsley and Birmingham v Blackpool games a little higher up the ladder.

However, all the Glovers have in their control is the Huish Park fixture and manager Gary Johnson has called for the atmosphere to recreate that of the play-off campaign from last season.

The visitors lie in 20th place and currently sit eight points above Yeovil. That eight point gap isn’t the first target for Yeovil however, Millwall’s 28 points are in that coveted 21st spot.

With a game in hand on both the two sides above the dotted line, a win on Saturday would give Yeovil the momentum and get them within touching distance of those sides.

To that end Yeovil have added two names to their ranks over the past week.

Spanish midfielder Ruben Palazuelos was added in time to make the bench on Tuesday night against Watford but didn’t make his debut while exciting young play maker Duane Holmes has come in on loan from Huddersfield Town. Holmes, who was born in the United States, has already made a number of appearances for the Terriers this season.

 

Holmes becomes the sixth loanee in the Glovers team and as Football League rules state there can only be five in a match day squad, one of Ishmael Miller, Shane Duffy, John Lundstram, Joe Ralls and Tom Lawrence will have to miss out if Holmes is to make his debut.

Doncaster’s most recent form hasn’t been very bad at all; nine points have been accumulated from the last six games. That run includes two wins, both at home, against Wigan and strugglers Charlton.

On the road, things are not quite as healthy, their last six games on their travels have resulted in five defeats and just the one draw. Their last victory away from home came way back in September, a 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday.

Doncaster manager Paul Dickov will be looking to a couple of new signings to make an impact at Huish Park. Aston Villa striker Jordan Bowery joined the club recently, as did Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Johnstone’s name might ring a few bells with Yeovil fans, he had a loan spell with the Glovers earlier in the season. He only made one appearance, a 2-0 defeat away at Burnley but a broken finger soon cut the deal short.

It won’t be a big surprise to Yeovil fans that the Glovers have crossed paths with Rovers many times over the past few years. The most recent meeting was back in November, the Sky Sports cameras were in attendance to see Doncaster come through as 2-1 victors.

Last season was far better for Yeovil morale; Paddy Madden scored in a 1-1 draw away from home, but James Hayter and Gozie Ugwu netted in a 2-1 win at Huish Park.

n fact, the last four meetings between the sides in Somerset have ended in Yeovil victories, with a grand total of two defeats for Yeovil in the 11 meetings in the Football League.

Tickets for the crunch clash are available right up until kick off through all the usual outlets, but the squad need all your support in the fight to avoid relegation.

Bring your scarves and hats, wave your flags and sing your hearts out as Yeovil look to use their recent draws as a springboard to three vital points.
