Yeovil Town will be back in Sky Bet Championship action this Saturday as high flying Burnley are in town.

The game comes at the right time for the Glovers as attention shifts from the transfer window to the football pitch.

Following last weekend’s thumping FA Cup win over League One’s Leyton Orient the players have been in high spirits and will be hoping to take that feeling and turn it into three valuable points in the Championship survival race.

Burnley were one of the early season pace setters in the division and can boast one of the hottest striking partnerships in the country, Danny Ings and Sam Vokes have fired the clarets to second in the table four points off top spot.

As if having two strikers already into double figures for the season wasn’t enough, Sean Dyche’s men have just secured a deal to sign Ashley Barnes from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Just as Burnley strengthened their attacking options, Yeovil were letting one go.

Paddy Madden has joined Scunthorpe United for an undisclosed fee.

Where Yeovil have been boosted is in defence, it’s hoped that Byron Webster should be back to 100% fitness ahead of the game, but if not it may give new signing Matteo Lanzoni a chance to make his debut.

Of course, whatever the result on Saturday Yeovil will still remain in the bottom three, but a win could put them within a single point of both MIllwall and Sheffield Wednesday depending on their results.

Looking back at the weekend’s fixtures and it won’t just be the four goals scored by Yeovil that will please the fans and players, but also the clean sheet.

Yeovil haven’t kept one in the league since defeating Blackpool back on December 3rd and had conceded 12 goals in five games since then.

Burnley also know how to find the back of the net and did so three times against Premier League Southampton in their third round tie, but that wasn’t enough to see them through as England internationals Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert scored for the Saints in a 4-3 win.

Prior to that it was business as usual, Saturday’s visitors won 3-2 on New Year’s Day against Huddersfield.

But it’s not all been one way traffic, Burnley lost to Middlesbrough and drew with Wigan, Leicester and Watford in December.

When the two sides met earlier in the season up at Turf Moor it resulted in a 2-0 Clarets win, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

It was only the third game of the season and Yeovil had already gone through three goalkeepers.

Marek Stech had been injured the week before, Gareth Stewart had stepped in, but in the build up to the Burnley game, loan replacement Wayne Hennessey was injured on international duty so a very quick call saw Sam Johnstone brought in from Manchester United.

That’s not all, Johnstone, broke his fingers in the warm up at Turf Moor, he battled through the game but failed to make another appearance for the Glovers.

He joins Kelly Youga on a very short list of players to have represented Yeovil Town without ever playing at Huish Park.

As for the game, Yeovil more than matched Burnley for an hour before a Keith Treacy cross was fortunate to go straight in.

By the time Sam Vokes had added a second, the game was over.

Gary Johnson has said in the build up to the game that despite Burnley’s position in the table and all their firepower, the Glovers have one big advantage – the fans and the atmosphere that can be created.

Burnley are bringing a near full allocation down to Somerset and Yeovil fans are asked to reply in their numbers.

As ever tickets for the game are available right up until kick off, either on line, on the phone or in person on match days.

The weather seems have eased off slightly after giving most of Somerset a battering, but supporters are still advised to make sure their route to Huish Park is accessible and they leave in plenty of time.
