The Glovers got off to the perfect start in Southern Group A in August, seeing off Sky Bet League Two rivals Portsmouth 4-3 at Huish Park.
Tom Eaves (x2), Izale McLeod and Bevis Mugabi were all on target for Town who come in to Tuesday’s match top of the table.
Rovers lost their opening group stage fixture at the Memorial Ground 3-2 to Reading Under-23’s, leaving them bottom of the standings with two games left to play.
An outright win for Darren Way’s side (three points) would ensure their progression from the group stage with a two point victory – for winning on penalties if the match ends at stalemate – not quite nudging Town over the line.
Coming into the fixture Yeovil will be looking to return to winning ways after losing their last two matches in League Two including Saturday’s defeat at the hands of table toppers Plymouth Argyle.
The Pirates return to cup competition having picked up a 3-2 win at Northampton in League One at the weekend, boosting them to seventh in the table after earning promotion from League Two last season.
Rovers’ main threat will come through striker Matty Taylor who has six goals to his name this season after notching on 27 occasions during the last campaign, whilst fellow striker Ellis Harrison sits on three goals in all competitions.
Yeovil will have to wait on the fitness of top scorer Tom Eaves who missed Saturdays trip to Devon through injury, whilst captain Darren Ward comes into the fixture in a rich vein of scoring form after netting in two of his previous three matches.
Head-to-head
The two sides have met 16 times in competitive competition, with Town winning five and drawing a further five fixtures.
Town’s most notable record against the Gas came in the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons where the Glovers remained unbeaten in all four meetings.
The three wins and a draw included the 4-0 win at Huish Park thanks to goals from Darren Way, Adam Lockwood, Colin Miles and Gavin Williams and a 4-2 win the following season with Phil Jevons (x3) and Bartosz Tarachulski on target.
The Glovers lost both meetings between the two sides last season going down 1-0 at Huish Park before Matty Taylor’s late strike cancelled out Leroy Lita’s equaliser at the Memorial Stadium in April to earn Rovers a 2-1 win.
