Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet Championship action this Saturday and it’s back to Huish Park for the visit of Bournemouth.

The Cherries, who were promoted with the Glovers from League One back in May have taken to the Championship in some style, they currently sit just outside the play off spots.

Just two points separate Eddie Howe’s men from the end of season shake up and they’ll be trying to get the three points to take them into the top six.

However, Yeovil need the points themselves, bottom of the pile and six points from safety, it’s a big chance on home soil to get ‘Mission Survival’ back on track for one last push.

The game this weekend kicks of seven minutes later than normal. The 3:07 kick off is in remembrance of the Hillsborough disaster, there will be a moment of silence before the game begins.

Bournemouth come into the game as the form side in the division, five straight wins with a goal difference of +8 from those five has meant that no side has taken anything from the south coast side since Charlton recorded a 1-0 win on the 18th of March.

Since then, they’ve conquered Barnsley, Leeds, Birmingham, QPR and Reading scoring 14 goals in the process.

Last Tuesday, Reading were beaten 3-1 by the Cherries. Matt Richie and Yann Kermogant were the architects of the Royals’ downfall.

But enough about them, the Glovers are looking to bounce back from last Tuesday’s defeat at Charlton.

The Addicks won the game 3-2 despite goals from Joel Grant and Kieffer Moore.

Yeovil have actually only suffered defeat twice in the last six, those two were against fellow relegation rivals, however, making games against high flyers all the more important.

The two sides met earlier in the season at Dean Court and the match on Boxing Day was a rather one sided affair.

Another Matt Ritchie double and Eunan O’Kane secured a 3-0 win for the hosts.

It won’t come as any surprise that the two sides have met many times over recent years.

The last Yeovil win was way back in 2007, Terry Skiverton scored that day in a 2-1 Yeovil win. Since then, Bournemouth have won all but two encounters a 2-2 draw in 2011 and a stalemate 0-0 the following year are pretty much all the Glovers can shout about.

Most worryingly, the last time Yeovil even scored against Bournemouth was back in December 2011.

But, all streaks must come to an end and with Gary Johnson confirming that there is no room for error this season there will be no better time to get one over on the closest thing the Glovers have to a ‘local rival’ this season.

Yeovil will be able to call on the services of a former Cherries legend in James Hayter.

Hayter scored nearly a hundred league goals in over 350 games in the red and black including the fastest ever Football League hat-trick.

Of course, with so many teams still involved in the relegation mix up, there are some other key fixtures in the Sky Bet Championship this Saturday.

Barnsley are away at Bolton, Charlton travel to Brighton, Blackpool face Leeds and Millwall host Watford. But it’s Huish Park where Yeovil’s immediate fate lies and your support is needed to bring home the points.

Tickets are available, as ever, right up until kick off via all the usual sources; you can call the ticket office, pop down in person or go online and collect on the day.

But if you can, get down to the home of Championship football in the South West and cheer on Gary Johnson’s men.

If you can’t make it to the ground, Glovers Player will have all the coverage and stay tuned to all the YTFC social networks from reaction to the big game
