Yeovil Town are back in action this tomorrow but the Glovers are swapping SkyBet League One for the FA Cup and a Second Round tie away at Accrington Stanley.

Saturday’s fixture will mark the first ever meeting of the two sides as Somerset’s finest travel to Lancashire with a place in the Third Round at stake.

As we know, the third round is where the Championship and Premier League sides come into the competition and with the dream of a trip to some of the country’s top teams on the line this will be a fascinating fixture.

Accrington Stanley (who are they… exactly) are currently sat right in the middle of League Two. They lie in 13th place with 26 points from their 19 games.

However, Yeovil are just 15 places above their opponents having stumbled and stuttered their way through the first third of the season.

With the pressure of league points taken out of the equation for this fixture Gary Johnson will hope for a relaxed and positive performance from his side.

The team news is reasonably straight forward, as with the first round – all the Glovers loanees are available for selection, however with Ryan Inniss being sent off last weekend, he will miss out through suspension.

In better news, Ben Nugent from his ban this weekend and will more than likely return to the side.

Elsewhere, Jed Steer missed the loss to Preston North End through illness, it is hoped he’ll be available for this game following his recovery.

Liam Davis and Kieffer Moore remain significant absentees but both are working towards a return to first team action sooner rather than later.

New Glovers signing, Alex Smith could also be part of a match squad for the first time, he scored in a midweek friendly with Exeter, staking his claim for a place as well as adding some match fitness.

If omens are your thing, Accrington lost last week, at home, to a side from the south west. Their enthralling match vs Exeter last week ended in a 3-2 win for the Grecians.

Accrington progressed through to this round after a replay in round one. They gained a creditable draw away at Notts County for beating them in the return leg at the Crown Ground.

As we know, Yeovil got this far with a 1-0 win against Crawley Town. On loan striker Jordy Hiuwla netting his only goal in a green and white shirt before returning to parent club, Manchester City.

It’s about now we’d look at the previous meetings and the fixture’s head to head, but this is the first meeting between the two sides.

Instead, we’ll mention that tickets for the fixture are available right up until kick off and adults are priced at just £15.

If you aren’t making the trip – Glovers Player will have the match commentary and the BBC website will have highlights of this and every FA Cup tie on Sunday. Due to broadcast rules, the YTFC YouTube channel will only be able to show the post match interviews.

Don’t forget, with Christmas fast approaching, nothing quite says ‘Merry Christmas’ quite like a ticket to Huish Park for one of the festive fixtures.
