Covers have been draped over the Huish Park pitch to ensure tomorrow’s SkyBet Championship clash with Watford will go ahead.

Rain has fallen consistently for the last few hours whilst Somerset has endured a stormy Christmas period with high winds and heavy storms drenching the South West.

The Glovers’ ground staff were out in force early on Tuesday morning to protect the Huish Park pitch from the elements with rain forecast for the entirety of New Year’s Day.

Standing water which will collect on top of the covers will be removed by a Water Hog machine, to ensure the pitch remains in good condition ahead of tomorrow’s 5.30pm kick-off.

Yeovil host Giuseppe Sannino’s Watford hoping to record the double over the Hornets after recording a 3-0 win at Vicarage Road in November, thanks to goals from Byron Webster, Ishmael Miller and Joe Edwards.

Tomorrow’s clash coupled with Saturday’s FA Cup fixture at home to Leyton Orient will conclude the busy Christmas period, which will have seen the Glovers play five matches in just 15 days.
