Well, well, well, who doesn’t love a penalty shoot-out to put you in the quarter-finals of a cup?

Actually I HATE penalties-and not just penalty shoot-outs – I hate all penalties!

But Tuesday night was a fantastic performance from Yeovil Town, particularly in the second half and I thought we thoroughly deserved the win.

As you may have seen Paul Sturrock is not a fan of spot-kicks either and decided to go watch the television – I love that.

Even when we get a penalty in a match I struggle to watch and on Tuesday, with all the new players, I wasn’t sure who was good at taking a penalty and who wasn’t but evidently I had nothing to worry about!

I can’t really write this blog without mentioning the man who was man of the match on the night and match winner – Artur Krysiak.

Is anyone noticing a pattern? I think he is firmly a fans favourite (and by that I mean my new favourite – sorry Joe!)

He has been a revelation in my opinion and his two penalty saves were a joy to watch.

But Artur may, quite rightly, take the headlines but those saves would not have mattered without four perfectly taken penalties.

Jake Howells, Marc Laird, Ryan Dickson and Ryan Bird all took spot-kicks that were un-saveable. Picking the most experienced players was the right decision and we have booked a place in the quarter finals – just four matches away from Wembley.

In other stand-out performances, our League Two friends up at York City pulled off a great win against Doncaster seeing off the League One side 2-0.

Morecambe travelled to high-flying Bury in the division above and secured a 1-0 win ensuring they took their place in the next round.

Bristol Rovers saw off in-form Wycombe 2-0 and Oxford United continued their impressive start to the season by beating Swindon 2-0 at The Kassam Stadium.

It is nice to see the lower division pulling off some great results and it should make for an interesting cup draw on Saturday.

As for this weekend, there is no Premier League or Championship action for us to get our teeth in but that does not mean it is short of football.

We take on Dagenham and Redbridge at Huish Park, in what is an early relegation battle and it is Non-League day!

If for any reason you cannot get to the home of football, look out for your local team and if they are involved in an FA Cup match – I can tell you it is a great atmosphere and well worth a watch for some local talent.

But I would urge you all to get down to Huish Park this weekend if you can. It is a huge game for Sturrock and the boys and with ten lads out injured, they need all the support they can get.

Having our skipper back has made a real difference and he has added some much needed experience to the squad.

So please PACK THE PARKP and let’s continue our mini-run. Three clean sheets in a row would be just what the doctor ordered and the least Artur deserves!
