At the end of last season the YTFC Get Pedalling 2015 cycling team embarked on their #pedalfromparis cycle ride.

Following on from the hugely successful rides of the past two years, YTFC Get Pedalling returned for its third year with the aim to raise more than last years total of £51,000. This year the challenge for the cyclists was to cycle the daunting 386km from Paris to Yeovil.

All sponsorship money has now been paid and counted and we are thrilled to announce the total raised is a staggering £63,000!

The three chosen charities, who will receive an amazing £21,000 each from the mammoth effort by the 103 cyclists are the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, Cyclists Fighting Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis.

Cyclist and one of the #pedalfromparis organisers Ben Tupman said: "Wow! This is what can be done by great people giving their time and effort for causes close to their hearts.

"In the last three years over 100 people have chosen to take part in Get Pedalling. Many hadn’t ridden bikes since childhood. Not only have they been part of raising over £110,000 for charity, they’ve made a positive change in their lives.

"There are so many people that deserve thanks. The riders, from the 16 that rode from Crewe to the 103 that rode from Paris. Our sponsors, particularly Dave Jones (Jones Building Group) who not only were main sponsors for the last two years but also brought us Group 5 and epitomised the spirit of Get Pedalling.

"Martin Wills who mapped out routes from Middlesbrough and Paris. Events Crew who supported us safely through every ride and Ridlers Coaches who transported us to our start point for three years.

"Most importantly though Marilyn Cottle will forever be a hero! The hours, emails, organisation and effort that Marilyn has given to Get Pedalling is incredible and we are all incredibly grateful for her efforts. Get Pedalling is a true testament to Achieve By Unity.

"It’s been a blast and we are all very sad to end this amazing experience. Well done Pedallers, we did it!"
