After Sam Foley joined League One side Port Vale, manager Paul Sturrock was quick to wish the former Town favourite all the best at his new club.

He said: “I am obviously disappointed that Sam has departed, but pleased for the boy, he was a loyal servant for Yeovil Town for three seasons.

“He has made a vast improvement in his game whilst at Huish Park, but the offer of League One football was too much for him to turn down at this stage of his career.

“It certainly wasn’t a financial decision as we made a very lucrative offer to Sam. He wanted to play League One football and if I was in his position, I would have probably made the same decision.

“On behalf of the club I would like to thank Sam for his efforts and hope his career goes from strength to strength.”
