Yeovil Town Football Club have appointed Paul Sturrock as their new manager.

Paul took up his duties this morning and will be in charge of the first team for Saturday’s match with Notts County.

Paul Sturrock, born in Ellon in Aberdeenshire in 1956, started his football career at Blackfoot Athletic before moving to Dundee United where he made 385 league appearances starting in 1974.

 

His final tally of appearances and goals for Dundee was 576 games scoring 171 goals making him Dundee United’s top attacking player of all time.

During his time at Dundee Utd he gained nine Under 21 caps and 20 full caps for Scotland.

Affectionately known to the fans in Scotland as “Luggy”, Paul moved into management when his playing career ended Paul and was appointed manager of St.Johnstone in 1993.

After five years he returned to Tannerdice as manager for two years before moving south of the border with Plymouth Argyle in 2000.

Paul had a brief spell at Southampton in 2004 after Gordon Strachan left, but his stay was fairly short and he then moved on to manage Sheffield Wednesday for two years.

In 2006 Paul was appointed Swindon manager, where he stayed for a year, before returning for a second stint at Home Park as Plymouth Argyle manager.

Paul’s last full time managerial role was at Roots Hall, Southend where he stayed for three years.

Acting first team manager Terry Skiverton will revert to the Assistant manager’s role with Darren Way acting as first team coach.
