10th September 2015

Hello everyone. Another week has passed and unfortunately, in that time, another disappointment for YTFC fans. After what was a perfect start at Huish Park, the match turned on his head and Shaun Jeffers red card played a huge part in the eventual result. The 4-2 score line was extremely flattering to Morecambe and having watched the highlights repeatedly, I do think the sending off was extremely harsh and there was no malice in the challenge.

But, as they say, nothing goes for you when you are down the bottom and with another injury to Jack Compton I think we can safely say that luck has not been on our side this season.

However, fans are understandably frustrated and I think we need to act and act fast. To have just 13 players available in the fourth tier of English football is something that just cannot happen.

We need to do all we can to push on and get some help where we can. It is extremely tough being a Yeovil fan at the moment and I can imagine Dawson, Dickson, Gillett and all the other frustrated injured players are feeling the same.

Hopefully in the next few weeks our fortunes will change when our strong starting 11 can finally play together.

In other news, there were some great games in League One and League Two as the Championship and Premier League took a break for the internationals.

Leyton Orient proved themselves to be human as they succumbed to their first defeat of the season at Exeter.

The Grecians romped to victory, putting four past the league leaders. I was impressed by Exeter when we made the short trip in August. They are a very well organised team and play a solid passing game. It may have come as a surprise that Paul Tisdale praised his sides defence but the side has played a lot of football together and their understanding is second to none.

The defeat left Orient shell shocked and propelled Exeter into the play-off places.

Luton Town finally got their first three points of the season and did so in style. Their visit to Cambridge was a feisty local derby and Luke Guttridge hit this beauty to help the Hatters win in the league for the first time this campaign.

I could watch that over and over again-what a strike!

Losing in the play-offs can often leave a post-season hangover but Wycombe Wanderers have continued their good form from last season and sit pretty in second in the table.

The Chairboys continued their unbeaten start at home to Hartlepool and Michael Herriman scored twice, either side of a Carl Magnay reply, to seal their fourth victory in six games.

With one of the smallest squads in the league, Gareth Ainsworth is continuing to impress at the helm with another promotion bid looking likely already.

As for Yeovil Town, our whole club has a very important weekend ahead. Not only do we host AFC Wimbledon on Saturday in desperate need of a result, our lady counterparts also grace Huish Park as they host Everton in a crucial game in the WSL2.

It is third vs fourth and victory would pile the pressure on Doncaster Belles and Reading ladies at the top of the table. The last time the ladies played at the home of Somerset football, they ground out an important win against Millwall and let’s hope they can do the same on Sunday.

So, not only do I urge you to pack the park for Sturrock and the boys – I also urge you to get back down to Huish Park on Sunday. Not only do the boys need the support to get back on track and up the table but the ladies also need you to cheer them on!

They could make history and if you have not had the pleasure of watching some of the fantastic football Jamie Sherwood and his team play-I can assure you that you are in for a treat.

So spend the weekend down at my favourite place and imagine how thrilled the whole club would be if bumper crowds could enjoy six points on the board.

We are one club with two teams and together we can achieve anything.

Enjoy your week everyone and until next time…keep believing!
