The two clubs have agreed a season-long loan for the six-foot-six striker.

Michael signed for the Merseyside club in 2009 after impressing whilst in the Southend United youth set-up.

Injury disrupted what was a promising start to the 2010-11 campaign but he still managed to finish as the U18s’ second-top scorer with 15 goals.

Last season the 20-year old spent time on loan at Hearts in Scotland where he made 15 appearances, scoring four goals. He has also represented England at Under 19 and Under 20 level.

Manager Gary Johnson said "The signing of Michael will create strong competition for our already strong front line, which is what we need for the Championship season."
