MATCH PREVIEW | Yeovil Town - Altrincham

Look ahead to Saturday's clash with Altrincham

12 February 2021

Yeovil Town will be looking to put Tuesday night's disappointing defeat at Eastleigh behind them when they host newly promoted Altrincham on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

The visitors have enjoyed a strong start in their return to the Vanarama National League and currently sit in the play-offs.

On the other hand, Darren Sarll's Glovers will be looking to start pushing themselves up the table following back-to-back defeats and can rise to as high as 16th with a win on Saturday.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash, Sarll said “They’re a good team, a lot of teams in our division are part-time and full-time and Altrincham don’t play like a part-time team.

“They play like they train every day, they’re a good side and I’ve been very impressed watching them.

“They’ve got good momentum, they’re in a good position in the league, it’ll be a really tough game and they deserve to be where they are.”

Team News

Yeovil will once again be without Lee Collins who will continue his suspension following his straight red card received in stoppage time against Stockport last weekend.

Injuries mean Sarll will be without the likes of Luke Wilkinson, Emmanuel Sonupe and Josh Staunton who continue their road to recovery.

A foot in the opposition camp

Since taking over in 2017, Phil Parkinson has overseen a turnaround at Altrincham. Parkinson became manager as the club were relegated to the Northern Premier League, yet Parkinson and Altrincham bounced back at the first time of asking, and just two years later won promotion to the National League by beating Chester, York and Boston in the play-offs.

Goals from influential striker Josh Hancock have helped Altrincham find themselves in 6th place, two points inside the play-off positions.

This Altrincham side boasts a wealth of National League experience, with the likes of captain Richie Sutton, who was promoted to League Two with Tranmere in 2018.
