INTERVIEW | Reuben Reid frustrated by defeat to Stockport County

7 February 2021

Reuben Reid was left disappointed by his side's performance in their 1-0 defeat at Stockport County, but believes that his team are eager to rediscover their consistency

The Gloversfine run in the National League took a blow at Edgeley Park on Saturday night and Reid admitted that he was frustrated that he and his teammates were unable to build on a good weeks worth of preparation.

He told www.ytfc.net: “It was a very disappointing evening for us. After a good week of preparation, we came into the game with high spirits and a lot of optimism but unfortunately, I didn’t see the side that trained all week perform out on the pitch today.

The first 45 minutes was probably the worst it got, and one of worst since my early days in football, so all in all it was a very disappointing first-half performance.

In the second half however, I thought we came out and showed a great reaction. There was a still few things missing in the second-half, little pieces of play that were nearly finished off but seem to peter out all the time.

The league position shows that this type of thing has been a recurring theme all season, but not to get too down beat since I first arrived here, the two performances against Weymouth and Dover have showed me that there is a lot of potential in the group and it's only a matter of time before we rediscover that consistency."

The Glovers entered the game on weekend on the back of winning five of their last seven games, and Reid insists that his side have a great opportunity to put right the wrongs and create a new spark of momentum when their visit Eastleigh at the Sliverlake Stadium in midweek.

The silver lining thing in this league is that the games come thick and fast and on Tuesday we will be looking to put things right. It’s going to be another tough game for us, but one that I'm we will all be up for.

"We've got a great chance to re-create some momentum again and hopefully we can do that.

“The main thing between now and then is that we focus on our recovery as everyone will be needed on Tuesday and over the coming weeks. In such a busy schedule it’s important that we have as many bodies as possible in order for is to have a successful few weeks."
