After months of waiting, Yeovil Town’s National League campaign finally kicks off with a trip to Norfolk to face King’s Lynn Town (5:30pm KO).
With fans unable to attend in person due to COVID restrictions, the fixture will be the first National League game broadcast live on BT Sport this season.
The Linnets, who were awarded the National League North title last season via PPG, will be full of confidence after back-to-back promotions.
Darren Sarll’s pre-match thoughts
The gaffer was delighted to be working towards a competitive league fixture for the first time since March, speaking in his press conference he said; “It’s been very strange, difficult and quite confusing at times. It’s nice to get going properly again.
“Even the preparation within the week, we’re preparing for an opponent now and potentially a reward.
“It’s time to start getting stressed and very angry again.”
In his press conference, Darren Sarll confirmed that both Charlie Lee and Albi Skendi are injury doubts for the fixture.
The gaffer also noted Alex John is unlikely to travel after sustaining an injury in our final pre-season fixture vs. AFC Bournemouth U23’s.
A foot in the opposition camp
After back-to-back promotions the Linnets now find themselves in the top tier of non-league football under the management of Ian Culverhouse. Following a successful playing career in East Anglia, plying his trade for Norwich City, retirement from playing saw the King’s Lynn manager return to Norfolk for his first full-time managerial appointment. Prior to that Culverhouse had been assistant at Premier League side Aston Villa.
Adam Marriott is the danger man for the Linnets, after 52 goals in 64 league games, the forward now returns to the premier divison of noin-league football for the first time since 2017.
Glovers fans will be able to watch the game live on BT Sport One. Coverage will begin at 5:15pm as Yeovil will look to end a winless run in front of the TV cameras.
Radio listeners have the choice of Three Valleys Radio or BBC Somerset.
