MATCH PREVIEW | Yeovil Town - Chesterfield

Look ahead to Saturday's National League action

30 October 2020

Yeovil Town host Chesterfield FC on Saturday afternoon (3pm) in the National League.

Darren Sarll will be hoping his side can bounce back following a disappointing home defeat to Sutton United on Tuesday evening.

The games keep coming thick and fast in this division, with the clash against Chesterfield the fourth fixture in a sequence of six games in just 21 days.

Team News

The Glovers are still without attacking forward Courtney Duffus, who is expected to be sidelined for some time while Josh Staunton is the latest to receive treatment from the medical room after he sustained an injury in Tuesday night's clash at Huish Park.

A foot in the opposition camp

Chesterfield haven’t made the greatest of starts to the new league season only winning one of their five opening league games with their only win coming against Woking back in early October.

John Pemberton’s side currently sit in 22nd place within the relegation zone losing all of their other four games against Hartlepool United, Torquay United, Stockport County, and Wealdstone.

Despite their poor form, they did reach the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup last weekend after 7-6 penalty shoot-out win over fellow National League side Stockport County at Proact Stadium.

Previous Encounters

Last time out against the SpireitesYeovil secured a fine 2-1 away victory at the Technique Stadium thanks to first half goals from Myles Hippolyte and Rhys Murphy which gave the Glovers a comfortable lead at the break.

The second half offered the hosts hope as Curtis Weston smashed in a volley from distance to give Chesterfield a way back into the game, however their much improved second-half performance couldn't break down an in form Yeovil Town side who moved up to second in the league table following that victory.

Pre-Match Views

Carl Dickinson“Looking ahead to the weekend we’ve got to put Tuesday’s result and performance behind us. We’ve got to have the right mindset going into the game and make sure that we do the simple things much better.

“Saturday is going to be an even bigger game for us as we want to put right the wrongs and show everyone what we are capable of and why we reached the positions we did last season. We owe a massive performance to the gaffer but most importantly the fans."
