PREVIEW | Yeovil Town - Hartlepool United

The Glovers return to Huish Park

20 November 2020

Yeovil Town host Hartlepool United in the National League on Saturday afternoon at Huish Park (3pm).

The Glovers come into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw with Woking F.C. last Saturday, a late strike from Josh Davison denying Sarll’s side all three points in Surrey.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Looking ahead of this week's fixtureSarll said: “It will be a tough one, we haven’t beaten them in the three games we played against them. They have three former apprentices of mine so I know some of them well. We have a great group of players though so I’m fully behind them.”

On the form of Matt Warburton: “He’s playing really well Matty. He’s a very intelligent footballer, he came out of teaching to be a pro footballer at 26 years old. He really thrives on that analysis of his opponent, he’s a real football man.”

Team News

Speaking within his pre-match press conference yesterday afternoon, the boss said that his side are in a much better position with injuries than earlier in week before Tuesday night’s scheduled fixture with Weymouth was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.

Despite the animosity earlier in the week, Sarll confirmed that his side's injury concerns are not vast ahead of tomorrow's game, with Carl Dickinson the only individual to miss this weeks training through a slight knock and is set to receive a late fitness test tomorrow morning

A foot in the opposition camp

Hartlepool United, have enjoyed a successful start to their National League campaignDave Challinor’s side have only lost two of their opening eight league games resulting in three wins and three draws against the likes of EastleighAltrincham and Bromley.

However, in their last National League fixture, Pool fell short to a 1-0 home defeat to newly bought Wrexham after a long-distance strike from Elliott Durrel in the 55th minute gave the men from the Racecourse all three points at Victoria Park.

Previous meetings

Last time out against this weekend's visitors it resulted in a tense affair at Huish Park in a 2-2 draw in the National League back in January with Rhys Murphy’s controversial sending off dominating the story of the game.

Scoring twice through Matt Worthington and Charlie Lee before the sending off of Rhys Murphy, Town felt hard done by to draw the game after looking comfortable beforehand.

Goals from Peter Kioso and Gus Mufuta ensured that Pool took home a share of the spoils and added to the frustration of the Glovers in their push for automatic promotion.
