PREVIEW | Woking F.C. vs. Yeovil Town

The Glovers travel to the Kingfield Stadium

13 November 2020

Yeovil Town travel to the Kingfield Stadium to face Woking F.C. on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

The Glovers will be full of confidence after a dramatic victory on the road against Bromley, which secured a ticket to the FA Cup second round.

Focusing back on league action, Darren Sarll's side will be hoping Saturday brings more success with Town looking for their first league win of the season.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Reflecting on last week’s victory, Sarll hopes his side can replicate similar performance levels against Woking.

“If you take away the win and just look at the performance, I thought it was really great, we played so well. Someone told me that in the end we had 27 shots, the performance was pretty conclusive in terms of the levels we reached.

“I know we left it late, but we showed again some good play, and similar properties and values to what my team has come to be known for.

“The other thing I took from that, I was absolutely delighted for Gabby (Rogers), I’ve got a long background in development and it’s still such a great moment for everyone at the club when a graduate scores the winner in the last minute of an FA Cup tie.”

Injury news

The boss described his group as a “wounded bunch” after an arduous afternoon in the FA Cup.

Recent loan signings Morgan Williams and Alex Bradley are in a race for fitness after completing 120 minutes against Bromley last weekend.

Long term absentees Lee Collins and Courtney Duffus remain doubts with both yet to return to training.

In better news, Matt Worthington looks set to return to the fold after recovering from an injury which saw him sit out of the FA Cup thriller.

A foot in the opposition camp

Woking, despite still being part time, have enjoyed a successful return to the National League. After promotion in 2018/19, Alan Dowson’s side were play-off contenders in their first season back in non-league’s topflight, finishing 10th with a PPG of 1.45.

Despite boasting former Premier League player Matt Jarvis, the Cards star man this season has been Max Kretzschmar, after initially working with Dowson at Hampton & Richmond, the attacking midfielder moved to Kingfield with his manager in 2018, scoring 17 league goals since.
