REPORT | Yeovil Town 1 - 1 Boreham Wood

Late leveller steals three points from Yeovil Town.

2 November 2019

Yeovil Town conceded a late leveller to draw 1-1 against Boreham Wood at Huish Park.

Jimmy Smith opened the scoring for Town but former Glover Kabongo Tshimanga leveled in stoppage time.

The green and whites will leave Huish Park feeling largely disappointed, after leading for 83 minutes,

Darren Sarll made two changes to the side which convincingly beat Haringey Borough on Tuesday night.

Smith and Rhys Murphy returned to the side in the place of Gold Omotayo and James Tilley.

After netting twice on Tuesday, Chris Dagnall made his first league start for the green and whites.

The Glovers would start fast, and find the back of the net just seven minutes in.

After a cross flew across the face of goal and hit the corner flag, Dagnall kept the attack alive finding Smith free in the box to volley the green and whites ahead.

Smith would have the ball in the net again just minutes later, but his effort was ruled out for a foul on Boreham Wood goalkeeper, Nathan Ashmore.

Yeovil kept the visitors at arms-length but struggled to create anything significant in terms of chances for the remainder of the half.

The closest the Glovers would come to extending the lead would be following a Lawson D'Ath corner. His delivery caused havoc in the Boreham Wood penalty area, but Dagnall couldn't quite get a shot away as the Wood cleared their lines.

Boreham Wood would be frustrated all half, being forced into shots from distance which provided no threat to Stuart Nelson's goal.

At the break Town deserved the lead but held a slim advantage.

The visitors would have a penalty shout waved away in the opening minutes. Kabongo Tshimanga looked to have been tripped but the referee instructed the former Glover to get back to his feet.

Boreham Wood would look for a leveller and went close through Sorba Thomas. After Town failed to clear their lines, the forward pounced and fired just wide.

After the Wood's bright start, Yeovil grew back into the game as Albi Skendi expertly found Smith in space in the box, but the earlier goalscorer couldn't quite direct his effort on target.

The green and whites would attempt to gain a foothold as the game entered it's closing stages.

Murphy was the first to go close as his half-volley from inside the box flew over the bar.

Just one minute later, substitute James Tilley would fire on goal. The Brighton loanee pounced on the ball and fired from the edge of the box forcing Ashmore into a save.

The resulting corner would see another great chance come to nothing as Skendi headed narrowly wide.

Boreham Wood had to pile on the pressure in the closing stages going close from a number of set-pieces but the visitors never looked like testing Stuart Nelson in the Yeovil net.

Despite missing a number of chances, the visitors would finally find a way through in stoppage time as Tshimanga fired from the edge of the box to earn the Wood a share of the points.
