PREVIEW | Yeovil Town v Macclesfield Town

Glovers host the Silkmen in basement battle

15 March 2019

PPAUK

The Glovers host Macclesfield Town on Saturday (3pm) in a vital battle at the bottom of Sky Bet League Two.

Suffering consecutive defeats on the road, the green and whites return to Somerset with their buffer over the bottom two reduced to just four points.

Back-to-back home wins over Cambridge United and Morecambe had extended the gap to six, but Town will now look for nothing less than a win against bottom of the table Macc.

Needing their resurgence in form at home to continue, Darren Way will lose two players from Tuesday's match at Port Vale.

Sessi D'Almeida picked up a 10th booking of the season to now serve a two-match suspension whilst Rhys Browne limped off with a hamstring injury.

Town's only other injury concern remains to be Gary Warren (hamstring), with Craig Alcock, Carl Dickinson, Jake Gray, Gabby Rogers and Yoann Arquin fit and available to come into the matchday 18.

For the Silkmen, they head south after having their midweek encounter with Exeter City postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

That leaves Sol Campbell's side without a win in their last seven league outings, losing 3-1 to promotion-chasing MK Dons last weekend after making nine changes to the starting XI.

Head-to-head
Despite their poor form this season, Macclesfield will be buoyed by their head-to-head record against the Glovers.

From the previous seven encounters, Town boast just one win to thier name and have suffered four defeats including the 1-0 loss back in November.

The sole victory came at Huish Park in 2005, as goals from Darren Way, Paul Terry, Lee Johnson and Arron Davies recorded a convincing 4-0 win in a FA Cup First Round replay.

Officials
Gavin Ward will be the man in the middle on Saturday.

It will be his first match involving the green and whites since taking charge of the 1-0 defeat at Wycombe in April last year.

In Somerset, he'll be assisted by John Flynn and Adam Matthews with Lee Swabey acting as fourth official.
