Bevis Mugabi believes keeping a united dressing room will prove key to Town's hopes of pulling clear of the bottom two in Sky Bet League Two.

The Glovers lost 3-0 at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday to suffer a sixth consecutive defeat, pulling the green and whites closer to the relegation zone.

Now facing back-to-back home fixtures against Cambridge United and Morecambe - two sides in the lower echelons of the division - Mugabi told iFollow Glovers the pressure is on the players to perform.

"We're on a bad run of form so we have to go back to the training ground and keep working hard. We have to go back to basics and grind a result out from somewhere - that's what it's all about.

"We believe in the manager and the manager definitely believes in us so we're fighting together as one. We stay calm and stick together - it's the players on the pitch, not the gaffer so the results have to come from us.

"The next two games are 100% winnable but we have to stick together and stay together if the results are to come."

"It's the players on the pitch, not the gaffer so the results have to come from us."

The 23-year-old ended the weekend's action with the captain's armband for the first time since joining the club in 2016.

Approaching 100 appearances for the Glovers, Mugabi is ready to take on more responsibility to ensure EFL safety.

"I've played quite a few games so I'm experienced enough to deal with this type od situation, so for me personally it's about keeping the boys together, keep fighting together as one and hopefully get a result at the weekend.

"We have to try and take the positives out of the last game and work hard day in, day out. Most importantly, we stay together and keep going."
