PREVIEW | Northampton Town v Yeovil Town

Glovers head to take on the Cobblers

26 April 2019

PPAUK

The Glovers head to Northampton Town on Saturday looking to ensure the Sky Bet League Two relegation battle will go to the final day.

Two points from safety heading into the penultimate match of the campaign, a win in Northamptonshire could see Neale Marmon's side leapfrog Macclesfield and escape the drop zone.

Three points and a Macclesfield defeat or draw would see a rise to 22nd whilst the only permeation that could see the green and whites relegated is a defeat at Sixfields coupled with a win for the Silkmen.

In simpler terms, Town will go into their final away match of the season looking to build on Easter Monday's 1-1 draw with Colchester United.

Jake Gray opened the scoring with his timely first goal of the campaign before Tom Eastman levelled it up on 75 minutes to ensure things remained the same in the bottom two.

Now heading on the road to take on the Cobblers, the green and whites will be without Gary Warren (hamstring), Rhys Browne (hamstring) and Josh Grant (achilles).

Striker Ryan Seager could recover from a knee knock in time to make the matchday squad in the only other injury concern.

Those in attendance at Northampton will witness a home side with plenty of familiar faces.

No less than four former Glovers now ply their trade in Northamptonshire, with Andy Williams, Sam Hoskins, Sam Foley and Dean Bowditch all likely to be involved.

Head-to-head
Saturday will be the 15th meeting between the two sides and first at Sixfields since November 2015.

Both sides are tied on four wins each and Town will look for just their second ever win on the road in Northampton.

Justin Cochrane and Lloyd Owusu netted in a 2-1 win in 2007 whilst Assistant Manager Paul Terry featured in five matches against the Northamptonshire outfit during his time as a Town player.

Officials
Anthony Backhouse will be the man in the middle at Sixfields.

It'll be his first match of the campaign involving the green and whites having primarily officiated in League One. Last season, he took charge of the 4-1 defeat at Notts County almost exactly a year ago.

In Northamptonshire he'll be assisted by Joe Clark and Garry Maskell with Mark Griffiths acting as fourth official.
