Manager Darren Way feels his squad is equipped to deal with the physical challenge of visiting Newport County on Saturday (3pm).

Both sides are unbeaten since the opening day of the season with the Exiles sitting joint-top whilst the Glovers remain just outside the top seven with a game in hand.

Fresh from a first-ever victory at Grimsby last time out, the green and whites will be looking to repeat the milestone at Rodney Parade this weekend.

Having come away from the three outings in South Wales empty-handed, Way is confident his side can extend their unbeaten run to six.

"Newport will be a different threat to Grimsby," he told iFollow Glovers. "They're a little bit more aggressive with their will to win and underdog spirit.

"It's a good club and I respect what Michael Flynn has done there by turning their fortunes around but they'll be very, very physical.

"The game can be very stop-start with loads of set plays and direct balls but it doesn’t matter if you’re Tottenham or Yeovil, it’s a very difficult place to go but I feel this squad is equipped for it."

With no game for the last 10 days following the international break, the Glovers could receive an injury boost for the trip to Newport.

Despite a break from Sky Bet League Two action, Way feels that time on the training ground has been spent wisely.

"We've had some good time on training ground to work on some weaknesses that we feel we need strengthen. The players have worked extremely hard and we've managed to get a full squad back training.

"It's important we carry the momentum we carried previously but can we play our game at Rodney Parade? We've done it for spells of the game previously but we’ve not done it for 90 minutes.

"Set plays are a strong point of theirs, not just against us but against many teams, so it's about us being able to play our game and affect them and put them under pressure and I feel this squad is equipped to do that."

Tickets for the short trip to South Wales will be available on the day with prices and travel information on our away tickets page.
