INTERVIEW | Mugabi delighted with clean sheet

Defender pleased at not conceding

21 October 2018

Town defender Bevis Mugabi is pleased with his side's effort to keep a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw with Tranmere Rovers.

Neither side created any clear cut chances in a match in which the defenders of both sides were in control.

With that being the first clean sheet the Glovers have kept since they went six games in all competitions without conceding, Mugabi is delighted to be back on track defensively.

Speaking to iFollow Glovers he said: “We’ve been working a lot in training about defensive duties and I’m just happy to get the clean sheet. It’s pleasing for us.

“With a clean sheet it's just a bit unfortunate we couldn’t finish the game but there weren’t really many clear cut chances in the game.

“We’re very close to getting back to those highs and I won't be surprised if there’s a big score for us winning very soon.

“It’s all a growing process and we are on the right track to achieve our goals and reach our targets come the end of the season.”

Saturday’s game saw two players return from injury after the international break as Stuart Nelson and Alefe Santos were fit enough to earn spots on the bench.

It also saw a first start in six matches for Gary Warren who went off injured in the 6-0 victory at Newport County, who Mugabi was thrilled to line up alongside once more.

“He brings a wealth of experience with the amount of games that he’s played, his calmness on the pitch and the information that he gives to the players around him helps all of us so having him back in the side was good.

“It’s good see the boys back who have been injured for while, we’ve still got a few to come back that will make the squad even stronger.

“Other teams are going to fear us even more when the players do come back so it’s all positives once again.”
