Town's latest summer signing, Gary Warren, is targeting more than just a return to his native South West.

After six years in Scotland with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Warren heads south of the border to relocate closer to his Bristol roots.

However, after helping the Caley Jags reach three cup finals - lifting the Scottish Challenge Cup as captain - the 34-year-old insists the transfer is about much more than a move closer to home.

"I'm back home to the South West," the Bristolian told iFollow Glovers. "It's good to come back and to have been given a chance to come and play for Darren and for Yeovil Town.

"But I've been in the game a long, long time to know what it takes to be successful. I'm not coming here to just think it's a chance to come and play, I'm coming here to win things and try and take this club forward and be as successful as we can.

"I've been speaking to Darren and Yeovil for some time now so I'm excited and looking forward to the season and looking forward to getting going."

With over 600 career appearances, the former Newport County defender adds vast experience to the Glovers squad.

Something noted as missing last season by Darren Way, Warren reveals his conversations with Town's manager led to Huish Park becoming his chosen destination.

"As soon as I spoke to Darren, I came down and had the chance to meet him and from my point of view, it’s a big factor - who you're working for and playing for - and he showed a great interest in me from very early on.

"He's someone I paid attention to last year and I saw how the club got on and how well it has progressed.

"There's great young talent here and some good faces already at the football club and I've come in to not only help out, but give that bit of experience that I've got and pass it on."
