Alefe Santos rewarded manager Darren Way with a man of the match performance after being recalled to the side against Grimsby Town.
The Brazilian starred in midfield as the Glovers ran out 3-0 winners over the nine-man Mariners at Huish Park.
It was Santos’ first league start since last September and he hopes his display will see him get a continued run in the side.
He said: “I’m very pleased. The gaffer called me earlier in the evening and said make sure I’m ready. I took my opportunity and that’s what I’ve got to keep doing.
“I like to get on the ball and I did quite a lot. I want to get on the ball and create, and I think Lewis (Wing) and I did that; we created chances and scored some goals. They let us have the ball and we kept it quite well.
“We had to kill the game off to stop them coming back into the game and we did that with the second goal.
“Our bread and butter is the league and this game shows we have got a good group.
“I work hard when I’m out the team, stay positive and that’s what I’ll continue to do.”
