Midfielder Jake Gray is targeting a successful campaign with the Glovers after returning from a six-month injury lay-off last weekend.

The 22-year-old ruptured his ankle ligament in Yeovil’s 1-0 home defeat to Carlisle United back in February.

Now fully recovered after a lengthy setback, Gray told iFollow Glovers he is more determined to succeed than ever.

“It’s my first big injury so it's made me mentally tougher I guess, it’s made me hungrier to come back and do well for the team.

“You can always take the positives out of a poor situation and I think this is definitely one so I’m looking forward to a positive season.

“It’s great to be back out there with boys, being back in and amongst it. The lads are doing great so far so it’s nice to be back.”

Town are unbeaten in the Sky Bet League Two since the opening day defeat to Bury, with the win at Notts County sandwiched between two home draws against Mansfield and Oldham Athletic respectively.

Gray made his second appearance of the season on Tuesday playing out the final 20 minutes in the 0-0 draw and believes there is a different atmosphere surrounding Huish Park this season.

“You just feel a different atmosphere and a different vibe around the place, I’m seeing a lot more Yeovil Town shirts around the town as well.

“It's more positive now the players are putting in great performances, the supporters can see that they’re working hard for the fans and the club.”

It’s not just in the terraces where a change in positivity has been noticed, with Gray feeling it in the dressing room also.

“There’s a lot of new faces this season, I think especially with the boys from last season there’s a different mentality and a different mindset of how we go about things.

“It’s definitely a more improved side. It’s going to be a challenge for me to get into the team first and foremost. It’s a long season and we’ve got a very competitive and strong squad.”

With the matches coming thick and fast Town's next match will be a visit from Stevenage this Saturday with tickets still on sale.
