PREVIEW | Yeovil Town v Colchester United

Glovers are looking to extend their unbeaten home run to six this weekend

The YTFC camp are in high spirits after picking up their first win on the road of the season in dramatic fashion at Chesterfield on Tuesday.

Town led 2-0 at the break but were pegged back by the Spireites and looked like they may have to settle for a point.

However, captain James Bailey had other ideas; scampering into the box to head home Sam Surridge’s cross for just the fourth goal of his career to date.

It was an important one too as Yeovil broke their away day hoodoo – and deservedly so.

Bailey’s header was the first goal scored this term by a Green and White player not regarded as a forward.

Turning their attention straight to this weekend’s match against Colchester United at Huish Park, Town are hoping to extend their unbeaten home run to six, matching that of their best ever start to an EFL season in Somerset.

The U’s are yet to register a victory away from Essex in 2017/18 and won only five last year – a record that ultimately cost them a play-off place.

Key attacker Sammie Szmodics suffered an ankle injury in midweek and will be a loss for the U’s.

Former West Ham United man Kyel Reid, on loan from Coventry City, netted twice in Colchester’s last game, while Mikael Mandron will provide another attacking threat.

Ex-Glovers loanees Sam Walker and Ryan Inniss are likely to be involved.

Head-to-head
Town and Colchester shared one win each last season – both sides winning their respective home fixture.

Tahvon Campbell and Francois Zoko earned the Glovers a 2-1 victory at Huish Park last November.

In all, Yeovil have won six out of 11 home matches against the U’s since 2000 (D2 L3).

Officials
Antony Coggins will be the man in the middle this weekend.

The Oxfordshire-born official has refereed eight games this season, dishing out just 13 yellow cards.

He is in his second campaign of refereeing at a professional level – this his first in the EFL – and has never previously refereed a Yeovil match.

He will be assisted by Justin Amey (Dorset) and Christopher Wade (Hampshire) with Ben Cobb (Dorset) acting as fourth official.
