PREVIEW | Crawley Town v Yeovil Town

Glovers travel to West Sussex for first match in September

1 September 2017

Rhys Browne scores at Exeter City PPAUK

Town’s start to the 2017/18 campaign has been their most prolific in years.

The Glovers have netted 13 goals in their opening six matches, failing to score in just one game – the Carabao Cup first round tie against Sky Bet Championship outfit Wolves.

In that sequence, Yeovil recorded victories over Accrington Stanley and Coventry City at Huish Park, and dispatched Exeter City on the road in the Checkatrade Trophy group stage.

The last time the Green and Whites were this fruitful in front of goal was at the beginning of the 2012/13 League One play-off-winning season.

Bournemouth loanee Sam Surridge scored his first Town goal on his full debut at St James Park on Tuesday night, a game which saw Rhys Browne bag his second in as many games and Otis Khan stretch his tally to three in August.

Darren Way will be hoping Olufela Olomola and Connor Smith make full recoveries from knocks ahead of the weekend’s trip to Crawley Town.

Francois Zoko is likely to come back into the fold after being rested at Exeter.

After a tough start, Crawley picked up an impressive three points at then league leaders Swindon Town.

Harry Kewell’s side cruised to a 3-0 win at the County Ground – their first away triumph in five months.

The West Sussex outfit have scored just four league goals so far this season, conceding five.

Head-to-head
Before January’s defeat, Town had won five matches in a row against the Red Devils.

The last of those was an emphatic 5-0 scoreline at Huish Park – equaling the club’s highest ever margin of victory since entering the EFL.

The Glovers have secured three points twice on the road at Crawley, with both games ending 1-0.

Officials
Trevor Kettle will be the man in the middle this weekend.

Mr Kettle has officiated five matches this season, issuing 19 yellow cards and one red.

Last term, the Leicestershire-born referee took charge of Yeovil’s 2-0 home loss to Carlisle United and sent off Ben Whitfield.

He will be assisted by Daniel Cook (Essex) and Stephen Brown (Kent) with Andrew Aylott (Bedfordshire) acting as fourth official.
