Matt Worthington felt the Glovers deserved their penalty shootout win over Chelsea Under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy at Huish Park.

Town took the lead courtesy of Rhys Browne midway through the first-half, before Luke McCormick equalised against the run of play before the break.

The Green and Whites looked most likely to win it in normal time, before claiming an extra point via the lottery of a penalty shootout.

Speaking to iFollow Glovers at full-time, the Bournemouth loanee felt Yeovil were good value for the two points.

“We worked on trying to press them high and stop them playing from the back because that’s what they do.

“We pressed high and they didn’t have many chances at all, so it was a good performance from the lads.

“I thought we could’ve won the game in normal time. Their goal came from nothing really but we dug in and kept going with the way we were playing and it worked out in the end.”

The 19-year-old was named Man of the Match on Wednesday night and admits to enjoying his night against a Young Blues outfit.

“It’s a totally different game to what we’re used to week in, week out,” he said.

“It brought back memories of playing in the Under-23s (for Bournemouth), it’s less physical and more technical.

“I think we matched them and were better than them on the ball and it was good to get back to playing that way, but we move on to Saturday now.”

The Glovers entertain Stevenage at Huish Park on Saturday as focus reverts to Sky Bet League Two.

Tickets are available online and via the Huish Park ticket office on 01935 847888 or by visiting in person.
