IT'S BEEN A TESTING SEASON - DICKSON

8 May 2017

Ryan Dickson is looking for improvements next season after a testing campaign.

Speaking after final day defeat at Colchester United, the Town skipper felt the players gave their all despite facing various challenges.

“It’s been a testing season,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel. “It hasn’t been easy for everyone but the boys have done very well I feel. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy season.

“At the end of the day, there aren’t many lads on the pitch (for us) that’ve played 30 games for other football clubs.

“So, we’ve got to take the positives. Everyone’s learning at the football club, and everyone’s giving everything for the gaffer – they’ve worked really hard.”

The 30-year-old is one of only three players contracted at Huish Park for the 2017/18 campaign, but is confident the situation surrounding out of contract players will be sorted to enable a more successful campaign.

“It can’t be nice for the manager being in that situation, as it isn’t for the players either. I’m sure they’ll get that sorted.

“When the gaffer took over last season we had some good players and it was really enjoyable. He’s a really positive man and has done well for this football club.

“This season has been testing at times with a weaker squad and players can get injured meaning it’s a balancing act, but it’s a nice club to be at so hopefully we can improve on this year next season.”
