Since its launch in December, the Archive team have made big strides in the construction of the Official Yeovil Town Football Club Historical Archive (www.ytfc.digital).
Over 60 videos featuring all the big matches over almost two decades have been uploaded, including the away match at Bromley which saw the club win the ICIS Premier League under Graham Roberts.
The FA Cup adventures against Liverpool, Charlton Athletic and Manchester United are also there for supporters to relive those special days.
The play-off’s also feature with the Wembley final against Blackpool and the 2013 success against Sheffield United in the semi-finals and Brentford in the final at Wembley Stadium.
But it’s not just matches, as we have several clips featuring Yeovil Players from ITV’s Soccer Night series and a few other random clips.
The season in the Championship also features strongly with stand-out matches against the likes of Reading, Forest, Watford, Leicester to name but four. Goals of the season collections are also featured with four seasons worth of goals included.
And of course, we couldn’t forget the match that seemed to set Yeovil on the road to the dizzy heights of the Championship - The FA Umbro Trophy final with that famous win against Stevenage at Villa Park.
The book section has also grown with the following available for you to peruse: Birth of the Giant killers, 10, Hendford to Huish, play-off programmes against Blackpool and Brentford, 75th.Anniversary Booklet, Silver Jubilee Booklet, Elect Yeovil to the Football League booklet and the Huish Park Opening matchday programme against Newcastle.
With over 263,000 pictures to upload this aspect is taking slightly longer than we had hoped especially after experiencing problems with our initial server for these pictures, but they are steadily building.
Likewise, the newspaper cuttings section where we have hundreds to upload but expect to see noticeable progress on these in the coming days.
Of the major sections of the site that only leaves the statistics section which will be the next major aspect of the site to be tackled.
Nigel Dyson has been working flat out on these stats and we hope to have complete records of players, managers, games played etc from 1925 on the site in the not too distant future.
When that section of the site is completed we hope we will be a fair way down the road of creating 'the go to Yeovil site' covering all aspects of the history of our great club.
But we would like to appeal to Glovers supporters to contact us if they have ANYTHING they feel should be included on the site by way of Photographing or scanning the object concerned. We feel there are loads of old newspaper cuttings, programmes, videos knocking around in someone’s attic and we’d love to be able to share them with our supporters.
If you have anything that seems suitable please contact the Project Manager Adrian Hopper by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or he be contacted by phone on 07768 174005.
In the meantime, work will progress on the site but if any supporter with a knowledge of Yeovil Town and a computer wishes to volunteer a few hours of their time we’d be delighted to hear from you on the contact details above.
