Match Previews

24 March 2017

All you need to know ahead of Town’s match against Exeter City in Sky Bet League Two (3pm).

The Glovers made it three matches unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two with a home draw against the 10-men of Accrington Stanley last weekend.

Darren Way was disappointed Town didn’t pick up a deserved three points after his side dominated proceedings at Huish Park.

Yeovil have lost just twice in the league on the road in 2017 but have only one win to their name (D5).

Way is hoping for his squad to build on last week’s impressive performance, yet frustrating result, when they make the short trip to St James Park to take on Exeter.

Paul Tisdale’s Grecians went on a healthy 12-match unbeaten streak from December 2016 to February but have recorded just two victories since losing to local rivals Plymouth Argyle (D4 L2).

Despite their indifferent form, the Devon club remain in the League Two play-offs by a point.

Exeter started the season poorly and they didn’t gain their first three points at home until December - their 10th attempt.

Since then, they have picked up five wins in eight games in front of their home fans.

David Wheeler has produced some brilliant displays for the Grecians, and his goals helped them propel up the table during their unbeaten sequence.

The midfielder netted nine goals in as many games, taking his tally to 15 for the season, but hasn’t scored since Valentine’s Day.

Ollie Watkins is also a player to watch out for. The youngster has scored 14 goals in all competitions, and is Exeter’s highest assist maker with five in the league.

Yeovil’s last win over Exeter came back in 2011 - a 3-2 with at St James Park.

The Glovers haven’t scored against the Grecians in two games, with their last goal coming in form of a Matty Dolan penalty in 2015.

Last time out, the sides played out a goalless draw in front of a 6,000-plus crowd at Huish Park on Boxing Day.

Darren Drysdale has refereed a mixture of League One and Two games this season and will take charge of his 18th game at St James Park on Saturday.

The Lincolnshire official has awarded 55 yellow cards and two reds, and is yet to officiate a Town match in 2016/17.

He was last the man in the middle for a Glovers fixture back in 2015 when he officiated Town’s 1-1 draw with Notts County at Huish Park.

Mr. Drysdale will be assisted by John Flynn (Oxfordshire) and Timothy Wood (Gloucestershire) with Brett Huxtable (Devon) acting as fourth official.

Darren Way and Bevis Mugabi’s pre-match interviews can be viewed on YTFC's official YouTube account here.

On matchday, minute-by-minute updates will be provided on YTFC's official Twitter account which can be found here, with additional updates available via YTFC's official Facebook page.
