YOU PLAY FOR THE BADGE ON THE FRONT - GOODSHIP

19 January 2017

January signing Brandon Goodship is confident team success will see him enjoy individual success at Huish Park.

The 22-year-old joined for a second spell in Somerset last week, this time signing a permanent deal from Bournemouth.

Goodship came off the bench in the 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers last weekend and was delighted to be back involved in competitive football.

“You can’t beat playing for three points on a Saturday,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel

“I want to come in and show what I’m about, get some games under my belt and prove my worth to the club.

“You play for the badge on the front. It’s a cliché but it’s true. For you to do well as an individual the team has to do well, so the main focus is we climb up the table and do the best we can.”

The striker will be part of Darren Way’s squad that travels to Blackpool in Sky Bet League Two this weekend, and Goodship admits the Town manager was a big factor behind moving to Huish Park for a second time.

He said: “Obviously it’s a big and a great club to be at and it’s pushing in the right direction, so I can’t wait to move forward.

“I was with him last season and he had a good impact on me as a player and as a person, so when I spoke to him about coming back he was really enthusiastic and gave me some great advice on how to move forward.”

Ready to feature in his second Glovers match since returning, Goodship is looking forward to a trip to Blackpool on Saturday, a ground he’s yet to experience as a player.

“They were in the Premier League a few years ago,” he said.

“It’s a big shame for them to be in League Two given the stature of the club but personally, it’s a big ground to go to and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
