WE'RE ALL IN IT FOR THE BADGE - SOWUNMI

27 January 2017

Omar Sowunmi is relishing his new role as a forward for the Glovers.

The 21-year-old began his career as a centre-back but has since moved into an attacking role under boss Darren Way’s guidance.

The former Ipswich Town man returned to action with a goal against Reading Under-23s in the Checkatrade Trophy, and has started the last two league matches.

Sowunmi feels his knowledge of his new position has improved a lot thanks to Way and fellow striker Tom Eaves, and hopes he will continue to progress.

“I’m loving it,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.

“I got injured when I first moved there but now I’m back training hard and the gaffer has been brilliant with me. He’s taught me a lot about my new position.

“I’ve learned a lot from Tom Eaves as well. We have a good chemistry together and hopefully that can show on the weekend.”

Doncaster Rovers are the visitors to Huish Park tomorrow (3pm) - the first league game in Somerset in 2017.

Town’s midweek cup match at Luton Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch and Sowunmi says their focus turned immediately to the league leaders after the announcement.

He said: “The preparation started as soon as we found out the Luton game wasn’t going to be played. We travelled back and trained on the day.

“We’ve had intense training sessions, meetings and we know our tactics for Saturday which are very detailed.

“It’s a massive game. They’re a very good side but we’re going to go out, give it the best we can and hopefully get three points.

“We’re all in it for the badge and it will be good to progress together.”

Tickets for tomorrow’s match can be purchased in person at the ticket office, online or by phone on 01935 847888.
