PREVIEW: YEOVIL TOWN v MANSFIELD TOWN

28 February 2017

All you need to know ahead of Town’s match against Mansfield Town in Sky Bet League Two tonight (7.45pm).

Darren Way was delighted with his side’s defensive effort last time out at Notts County.

The Town boss changed from his preferred 4-3-3 system to a 3-5-2 formation as the Glovers played out a goalless draw at Meadow Lane.

Yeovil have now drawn eight of their last 12 matches in the league, and Way wants to make home advantage count in a week of back-to-back fixtures at Huish Park.

First up is Mansfield who sit eight in the division, only out of the play-off places on goal difference.

The Stags have been in fine form of late, winning seven of their last ten matches.

In that sequence, goalkeeper Jake Kean has kept six clean sheets but could miss tonight’s clash after being replaced by Scott Shearer in the 40th minute of Mansfield’s 2-1 win over Newport County on Saturday.

Loan striker Shaquille Coulthirst is in good form for the Nottinghamshire outfit with four goals in seven matches since joining Peterborough United - three of which have been from the spot.

Forward Matt Green is the Stags’ top scorer with nine league goals.

Head-to-head

Town’s biggest win over Mansfield came in 2005, where Darren Way netted twice in a 5-2 scoreline at Huish Park.

Arron Davies, Michael Rose and Phil Jevons were also on target for the Glovers on the day.

Yeovil’s last three points over the Stags came last season courtesy of Ryan Dickson’s finish in the final minute at Field Mill.

Last time out, Matt Green slammed home from the spot to give Mansfield victory in the opening month of the campaign.

Referee

Christopher Sarginson (Staffordshire) will take charge of his 30th game of the season when Town host Mansfield tonight.

Mr Sarginson has awarded 92 yellow cards so far this campaign and has issued seven red cards.

The Staffordshire-born has officiated two Yeovil matches this season. He was the man in the middle when Matty Dolan’s free kick earned the Glovers three points at Crewe Alexandra and was also in charge for the goalless draw against Portsmouth at Christmas.

Mr Sarginson will be assisted by Mark Derrien (Dorset) and Andrew Laver (Hampshire) with Mark Russell (Somerset) acting as fourth official.
