It was mixed emotions for Francois Zoko after Yeovil’s draw against Leyton Orient at Huish Park.
When Tom Eaves’ shot on the turn was beaten away by goalkeeper Sam Sargeant in first-half injury time, the Ivorian forward pounced to score the game’s opener and become Town’s top goalscorer.
However, his ninth goal of the campaign proved to be in vain as former Glovers loanee Gavin Massey netted a late equaliser for Orient before Zoko left the field with an ankle injury.
“It’s always good but it’s better when your team win - you get more pleasure from that,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.
“I would’ve loved it to have got us the three points as I think this team is not far (from a win) and we’re working hard.
“There’s a little bit missing but we need the fans to trust us because we will give everything until the end of the season.
“The league is still close and if we get a win here and point there everything will be fine. There’s still a lot of games and I believe the tide will change.”
He added: “I came off which wasn’t about tactics, it was more about looking at Tuesday’s game.
“I had a bad kick on my ankle and the gaffer made the choice, and didn’t want to take a risk.
“Tuesday is another big game at home and we’re already looking at this game now.”
