Terry Skiverton dedicated Town’s 3-1 win over Exeter City to Bruce James.
The assistant manager was on post-match press duties as boss Darren Way shot straight off to visit disabled and players’ liaison officer James.
Goals from Jake Gray, Francois Zoko and Sam Surridge sealed an excellent win for the Glovers who ended their 2017 home campaign on a high.
“Bruce is a little bit poorly at the moment so the gaffer has gone to go and see him,” Skiverton told iFollow Glovers.
“We went to see him before kick-off and the players have been up to see him this week. He put the boys under pressure by saying ‘you better get three points for me!’. The boys handled it well and put in a fantastic spirited performance.
“The boys can be proud of themselves and one man can be equally as proud.
He continued: “There was a real special sort of atmosphere. Everything seemed connected.
“The players felt that and we spoke about it after the game.
“The fans were right behind us, I heard drums and loads of positivity from the sidelines and the players felt that.
“Behalf of everyone from the club, I’d like to thank the supporters because it wasn’t like any normal league game.”
